Les niveaux de connaissance en langue ont été classés et définis par le Conseil de l'Europe. Cette norme européenne, appelée cadre européen commun de référence, est acceptée et reconnue dans tous les pays de l'Union Européenne. Elle détermine précisément les compétences que doit posséder l'apprenant pour communiquer dans certains contextes.
On 15th March 2003, astronomers at California’s Mount Palomar Observatory announced the discovery of a new planet, which they have called Sedna after the Inuit ocean goddess, three times further from the Sun than Pluto. Astronomers believe that the body, which was observed for the first time in November, may be the 10th planet of the solar system but this will have to be confirmed.
Immediately after the announcement of the discovery of Sedna, astronomers turned the Hubble space telescope towards the new planet and took photographs. Hubble has enabled scientists to observe Sedna more clearly and determine its approximate size, which is about three-quarters of the diameter of Pluto. It has also helped to discover that the planet has no moon.
