Cette norme européenne, appelée cadre européen commun de référence, est acceptée et reconnue dans tous les pays de l'Union Européenne. Saint Nicholas lived in Myra, Turkey in about 250 AD. He was a very good man and he helped poor people. The Catholic Church made him a Saint.
In some European countries, people still celebrate Saint Nicholas. He has many different names: Saint Nick, Sinter Klaas. He is always a kind man and he gives presents to children on 6th December, the day of his death.
In Britain and America he is called Santa Claus or Father Christmas. And in most countries the celebration of Saint Nicholas is now at Christmas on 25th December. Today most people celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas. But the ancient celebration of Saint Nicholas still exists with Santa Claus.
